LASER surgery replaces the scalpel blade typically used to make incisions during surgery with an invisible LASER beam that cuts through the tissue as well as, if not more, effectively than the steel blade without the ill effects.  When a scalpel blade slices through tissue it lacerates nerves and blood vessels leading to increased pain and bleeding.  By contrast, the LASER beam seals nerve endings and blood vessels as it moves through the tissue leading to little to no pain or bleeding.  This leads to a more comfortable post-operative period and faster healing time for the patient with less chance for complications.  The importance of these benefits increases exponentially as the procedure in question becomes more delicate and precise, such as with cat declaws, eyelid surgeries and tumor removals.
